Rage Against the Regime rally

On Saturday, August 2, Olympia Indivisible, in conjunction with Evergreen Resistance – a WA chapter of the 50501 movement – are hosting a nonviolent Rage Against the Regime rally, 12-3pm, at the Tivoli Fountain at the Capitol Grounds

Dr. Mimi Syed will be one of the speakers during the rally. Dr. Syed is a board-certified emergency medicine physician, and an assistant clinical professor at University of Washington and Washington State University. She is a fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians. Dr. Syed served in Gaza from August 8 to September 5, 2024, and December 3 to December 31, 2024, at both al-Aqsa Hospital and Nasser Hospital

PASS and RCF will have a joint table with material and handouts. Volunteers at the table are appreciated

UNRWA Gaza 5k Walk/Run

UNRWA USA is bringing its most iconic event to the Pacific Northwest for the very first time. This is your chance to provide critical psychosocial support to the millions impacted by the ongoing Israeli military assault on Gaza. This event includes an optional 5K walk/run, fundraising prizes, community, and as much Palestinian culture as we can squeeze into your morning. The Gaza 5K is your chance to meet and connect with folks who share your solidarity and commitment to the mental well-being of refugees.

Since 2012, this annual event has united communities across the US in solidarity to fund mental health counseling and trauma support for Palestine refugee children. More than a race, it’s a fun way to take action, experience Palestinian culture, and show Palestine refugees that Americans care.

You don’t have to run. Walk, cheer, or fundraise (the most important part to support life-saving UNRWA services—but everyone must register in advance.

Peace vigil – week 90

We continue to gather and advocate for Palestinians to remain safely in Gaza, and for peace with justice, and also to bring attention to people detained without charge and to our first amendment rights.

It has been more than ninety weeks since Israel began its destruction of Gaza following October 7, 2023. Children in Gaza continue to face unconscionable starvation imposed by the Israeli government and military. Join us today and every Friday to say “FEED GAZA NOW!” If you can, please bring your own sign with that message, or come and use one of our other signs calling for a free Palestine. Bring a friend!

Thanks to the Olympia Fellowship of Reconciliation for organizing these peace vigils through the years, and for inviting us to share this space as we advocate for peace. Join us every week at Percival Landing, in downtown Olympia. It’s important we remain visible in our collective work for peace.

Doves for Gaza

Please join the Rachel Corrie Foundation and volunteers, at the Olympia Timberland Library, 313 8th Ave, on Friday May 9, 2-5pm, to create dove-themed art activities, and explore storytime featuring Rifk Ebeid’s book, Kamal’s Key. Learn about the legacy of the Al-Ghussein family from Gaza, and connect with art made by children in Gaza.

A Doctor’s Report on Gaza – POSTPONED

EVENT POSTPONED TO A DATE TO BE DETERMINED
On Monday, February 3, join us to hear from special guest speaker Dr. Mimi Syed, an emergency medicine physician from Olympia who has been on two medical missions to Gaza. She will be speaking from 7-8pm, at the YWCA in Olympia (220 Union St SE), in the Friendship Hall, next to the main building.

Palestine Action of Sound Sound (PASS) holds it’s monthly general meetings on the first Monday of each month. We’re delighted to welcome Dr. Syed for this special and timely event.

This is talk is free and open to the public.

We encourage people to wear masks in the closed environment at the YWCA Friendship Hall. Masks will be provided.
