The Rachel Corrie Peace Grove

SHEET 2 — the proposal
The Rachel Corrie Peace Grove is imagined as a quiet, sacred place, to be used for solitary meditation or to gather in community for storytelling and reflection.
A grove of trees and low vegetation will mark the two entrances to Rachel's wood. The trees will border two semi-circular pathways that spiral inward and converge on a low circular mound, sixty feet across, covered with moss, native plants and grasses. Twenty-three large natural stones, one for each year of Rachel's life, will be randomly placed on the mound and could be sand blasted with names of other peace martyrs, symbols or images.
One day another grove twin to this one should be built in Rafah.
