Arts Walk: Solidarity Forever
Join RCF and partners at Olympia’s Spring Arts Walk weekend! We will be centered at the Olympia-Rafah Solidarity Mural, in downtown Olympia. Gather with community and learn more about our ongoing and upcoming arts initiatives.
Arts Walk: Visions of Grief and Hope
Join the Rachel Corrie Foundation for Peace and Justice (RCF), Art Forces, and the Olympia-Rafah Solidarity Mural Project (ORSMP), during Arts Walk weekend for a celebration of solidarity, perseverance, and coalition-building. With support from the broad range of organizations represented in the Olympia-Rafah Solidarity Mural, we will reflect on the Palestinian concept صمود (sumud or “steadfastness”), and how artistic expression can foster resilience within our communities.
Throughout Arts Walk weekend, Visions of Grief and Hope, an interactive art installation by Diana Fakhoury and Brady Black, will be displayed in front of the mural. In their words, “This collaborative work is an expression of collective grief and hope—a journey moving through tragedy and remembrance to hope and resilience.” The community will be invited to contribute messages of their own to the installation.
On the second floor of the adjacent Labor Temple building, the Art Forces Peacemaker Gallery will be exhibiting Shoshana Cohen’s original collection of photographs depicting the day-to-day lives of youth living under occupation in the West Bank during the 1980s and 90s.

Olympia Arts Walk Social Justice Party
Join the Rachel Corrie Foundation for Peace and Justice (RCF), Art Forces, the Olympia-Rafah Solidarity Mural Project (ORSMP), during Arts Walk weekend for another social justice block party! This community gathering will be held in front of the Olympia-Rafah Solidarity Mural, October 4th & 5th, from 6-10pm Friday the 4th and 12-6pm Saturday the 5th.
On Friday and Saturday, both days of Arts Walk, RCF will be exhibiting original artworks documenting the experiences of Palestinian youth across the decades. This special collection includes:
- Original art created by young people in the West Bank and Gaza. These works were made possible by Wejdan Diab, a former teacher at the Mira Kindergarten in Gaza City, the first area targeted by Israeli forces after October 7.
- Shoshana Cohen’s A Generation of Solidarity, a photo exhibition capturing the day-to-day lives of youth living under occupation in the West Bank during the 1980s.
- Images from the Palestinian Cultural Palace, one of RCF’s Gaza projects.
Throughout Arts Walk weekend, Art Forces will also be showcasing their digital exhibition, Art for Gaza, featuring artists from Palestine and across the country. All the artwork will be for sale, with proceeds benefiting the Middle East Children’s Alliance (MECA). This digital exhibition will be available to the public between October 3rd and mid-November. Please visit their website for more information.
On Friday, in front of the Mural, please also considering joining us for:
- A cultural presentation on Every Child Matters by Dakota Case from the Water Warriors Canoe Society.
- A vigil for Ayşenur Ezgi Eygi, a local Turkish-American student activist who was shot and killed by the Israeli military in the West Bank on September 6, 2024.
- Speakers, kids activities, music, and more!
Artisan olive oil from Canaan Palestine and Palestinian crafts will be available for purchase.
We will be announcing additional details soon, so please stay tuned for more information. You can also reach out to the Rachel Corrie Foundation at [email protected] with any questions.
