Nakba Day 76 – Panel and film
Join students, faculty, and community members for a panel discussion and film at The Evergreen State College today today. Presenters will facilitate a discussion on the history of the Nakba, and the colonial process of ethnic cleansing and displacement inflicted on the Palestinian people in their native homeland.
This free event open to the public includes a showing of the moving historical drama film, Farha, about how the Nakba affected the dreams of a teenage Palestinian girl.
Rachel Corrie 21 years: They Are Us and We Are Them
Saturday, March 16th, is the 21st anniversary of Rachel Corrie’s stand in Gaza to prevent the demolition of a Palestinian home. Please join us at this community gathering to learn about and remember Rachel, to carry on the critical work that she inspired, and to strengthen our individual and organizational connections for social justice.
We’ll view a short film about Rachel, followed by Q&A with her parents; have social time for getting to know one another and each other’s work; engage in simple actions that address the current situation in Gaza; and share poetry that centers Palestine. Is there a poet in you? Would your organization like to be represented at this event? Contact us at [email protected].
This year, March 16th falls during Ramadan. Light snacks will be provided that we hope our fasting guests will take with them to enjoy after sundown.
