Recognizing the rising civilian death toll in Iraq

March 10, 2009 @ 3:44 pm

mime-attachment.jpeg

Representing the desire for peace and reconciliation,
the Iraq Memorial to Life is a display of markers for documented civilian deaths following the US-led invasion in March 2003.You can see it in Olympia this month.

The ongoing loss of civilian lives in Iraq is alarming and incomprehensible. Most Americans do not know how extensive the loss really has been – and continues to be.

The Iraq Memorial to Life will present the visual image to Americans that illustrates the magnitude of the senseless loss of life in Iraq since March 2003. People from all over this country, and other countries, will personally make thousands of markers that will be assembled to create the Memorial to be installed in Washington D.C.

Construction of the Memorial is being planned for the lawn near the Washington Monument on the National Mall for a nine-day period including a Saturday set-up and Sunday afternoon take-down; the permit dates are being finalized for some time after May 1, 2009.
