JVP Seattle, Monthly Mincha – The Torah of Angela Davis

February 23, 2019 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Join JVP Seattle on February 23rd from 2-4pm for another monthly mincha–JVP Seattle’s new monthly Shabbat learning session that is open to all.

This Black History Month we find ourselves at a moment ripe with opportunity to reinvigorate a vibrant spirit of Black and Jewish solidarity. We can only do this wholeheartedly if we unabashedly defend our bold Black movement leaders who are under attack for speaking up for Palestine.

On February 15, Jews in Birmingham, Alabama, are gathering to hold a Shabbat to welcome Professor Angela Davis back to her hometown. They have asked us to gather across the country as well to show our solidarity.

We in Seattle will be honoring Angela Davis during our Saturday monthly Mincha on the 23rd! We will be reading from the Torah of Angela Davis, a collection created by Jay Saper, and will dream, celebrate, and commit to all of us getting free.

We will be gathering at Pipsqueak Art Gallery in the Central District, which is a wheelchair accessible space. We ask that you please come scent free. Feel free to bring snacks or beverages to share— but most importantly just bring yourself!

Please send any access needs, questions and RSVP to e[email protected]

We hope to see you there!
