Join the Rachel Corrie Foundation for Peace and Justice (RCF), Art Forces, the Olympia-Rafah Solidarity Mural Project (ORSMP), and the Brotherhood Lounge during Olympia’s Spring Arts Walk weekend for a special social justice block party! This community arts gathering will be centered at the Olympia-Rafah Solidarity Mural, at 119 1/2 Capitol Way N, in downtown Olympia, April 26 & 27, from 6-10 pm Friday and 12-6 pm Saturday.
The event will feature local visual art exhibits, live music and poetry, a gathering of Olympia’s social justice organizations, and children’s activities. Artwork will be for sale, with proceeds to benefit the Middle East Children’s Alliance (MECA). Throughout Arts Walk weekend, Palestine Action of South Sound (PASS) will host a running fundraiser for Gaza relief at the mural and at The Painted Plate, 412 Washington St SE, with sales of T-shirts, buttons, keychains and baked goods. The Painted Plate will also host a silent auction of contributed art and of plates painted by local artists and activists, also to benefit Gaza relief. At the mural site, there will be space to connect through shared grief, to honor the martyred lives lost in Gaza, to build community, and to share resources for learning and action.
