Join the international Al Andalus Ensemble for a poignant evening of music & dance The Bridge on Thursday, May, 11th 2017 at 7:00 p.m. Al-Andalus was part of our Olympia Arab Festival last October.
The Al-Andalus Ensemble “The Bridge” performance explores the theme of what bridges us to one another, as well as what we hold in common across our different religious, cultural backgrounds. The work of the Al Andalus Ensemble stands as a premiere bridge between the worlds’ music & dance cultures, bridging East and West as well as Classical, Jazz and World music & dance genres. What a unique and novel way to celebrate Mother’s Day! They’ve just been nominated by the amazing people at Just Plain Folks for 3 Awards (voting still to come!). JPFolks do all sorts of amazing work! We are so moved! Our album “21 Strings” is nominated for “Best World Album,” song “Baghdad” for “Best Solo Instrumental Song” and “Martil” for “Best World Music Song”!!
Al Andalus Ensemble founders Tarik & Julia Banzi (oud, ney, darbuka & flamenco guitar) join with Barcelona born Contemporary Flamenco dancer Verónica Medina Cano, multi-lingual vocalist Emily Miles and Classical-Jazz pianist Joe Heinemann.
Doors open at 6:30pm
