Amani Inshasi Returns to Olympia – June 13, 2013, at Traditions!

May 31, 2013 @ 7:52 pm

In July 2012, young Amani Inshasi captured the hearts of our Olympia community when she spent a busy week sharing her cooking, Arabic teaching skills, and personal experiences living as a young woman in the Gaza Strip – a land under siege. We’re thrilled that in coordination with Gaza Cultural Exchange (GCE) in Corvallis, Oregon, Amani will soon return to Olympia for a brief visit.
Join us Thursday, June 13th, 7:00 pm, at Traditions Café, 300 5th Avenue SW, in downtown Olympia, for a conversation with Amani and Gaza update! The event is free to the public. Donations to support the Rachel Corrie Foundation’s numerous current Gaza projects are welcomed!

Amani is a 25-year-old English-language tutor and educator who works in Gaza with both elementary school and young adult learners. In 2011, she served as a translator and teaching assistant for GCE members in Gaza to build connections between Corvallis and Palestinian youth. In summer 2012, Amani spent several weeks in Corvallis to connect directly with that community’s youth through the Boys and Girls Clubs. In Olympia, she captivated hosts and community members alike with her energy, warmth, and insights into life in Gaza. Don’t miss this special opportunity to reconnect with Amani Inshasi, a delightful friend from the Gaza Strip.
