VFP ship The Golden Rule comes to Olympia

August 15 - August 16

The Golden Rule Sails Again for a Nuclear-Free
World and a Peaceful, Sustainable Future!!

The Golden Rule is a project of Veterans For Peace that dramatically advances VFP’s (Veterans for Peace) opposition to nuclear weapons and war. The Golden Rule originally set sailwith Quaker activists in 1958 to stop nuclear weapons tests in the Marshall Islands.  Although detained by the US Coast Guard, their action inspired the many peacemakers and peace ships that followed. In 2010 VFP members and supporters
recovered and restored the Golden Rule which now sails again to show that nuclear abolition is possible, and that bravery and tenacity can overcome militarism.  Additional information about the Golden Rule’s history, mission and press contacts. for its 2024 Northwest Tour is located on pages 2 and 3 of this press release.

The Golden Rule will dock and be open to the public at Percival Landing Public Moorage, 217 Thurston Ave NW, Olympia on August 15 & 16. During that time, crew members will be available to talk with visitors about the boat and its mission.  In addition, crew members will speak to the public during presentations at the Olympia Friends Meeting on Thursday, August 15 at 6:30 pm, 3201 Boston Harbor Road NE; Olympia, WA and on Friday August 16 at New Traditions Fair Trade , 300 5th Ave SW in Olympia beginning at 6:00 pm.
