SUMMARY:Rep. Strickland Tele-Town Hall
DESCRIPTION:ACT NOW! \nOlympia & Washington 10th Congressional District friends\, \nThis Thursday\, November 9\, at 6:30 p.m.\, Representative Marilyn Strickland (WA-10) is hosting a one-hour Tele-Town Hall. Make your voice heard! If you or someone you know lives in Olympia\, or elsewhere in Washington’s 10th Congressional District\, demonstrate your concern for the families of Gaza and all that has happened in the Middle East by registering for the Tele-Town Hall and submitting a written question to Rep. Strickland about the current crisis. Rep. Strickland will likely respond to only a couple questions on this topic during her hour-long Tele-Town Hall Thursday\, but by submitting your question\, you will help to let her know that many people in our WA/10 Congressional District care deeply about this issue and about all that is happening now. \nWith the space allowed\, you may also be able to support the following: \n\nAn immediate ceasefire.\n\n\nProtection for the civilians of Gaza and the West Bank\, for whom Israel holds responsibility – as stipulated by the Fourth Geneva Convention.\n\n\nAn end to military aid to Israel and that no U.S. funding be used for bombing\, the commission of war crimes\, or the perpetuation of a genocide in Gaza.\nHumanitarian and life-saving aid to the civilian population of Gaza.\n\nPre-register to join the Tele-Town Hall here: https://strickland.house.gov/live \n  \n

SUMMARY:5 Broken Cameras: Fundraiser for Palestinian Children's Relief Fund
DESCRIPTION:Tomorrow\, Tuesday\, November 21\, at 7:00 pm\, join the Rachel Corrie Foundation and Olympia Film Society (OFS) for a screening of 5 Broken Cameras\, a documentary film chronicling a Palestinian farmer’s life and his community’s nonviolent resistance to the Israeli occupation and confiscation of village land. \nAbout the Film \nNominated for Best Documentary Feature at the 85th Academy Awards\, this film is an extraordinary work of both cinematic and political activism. Human Rights Watch writes\, “5 BROKEN CAMERAS is a deeply personal\, first-hand account of life and non-violent resistance in Bil’in\, a West Bank village surrounded by Israeli settlements. Shot by Palestinian farmer Emad Burnat\, who bought his first camera in 2005 to record the birth of his youngest son\, Gibreel\, the film was co-directed by Burnat and Guy Davidi\, an Israeli filmmaker. Structured in chapters around the destruction of each one of Burnat’s cameras\, the filmmakers’ collaboration follows one family’s evolution over five years of village upheaval.” \nCindy Corrie\, who has visited Bil’in six times since 2005\, will provide a short introduction to the film. \nDoors open at 6:00! Tickets can be purchased through this link for $12 (general admission) or $9 (OFS members). No one will be turned away for lack of funds. \nAll funds raised at tomorrow’s event will directly benefit the Palestine Children’s Relief Fund (PCRF)\, a nonprofit organization working to deliver essential and life-saving medical relief\, as well as humanitarian aid such as food\, clean water\, and healthcare to Palestinian families affected by the crisis. Since hostilities began on October 7th\, PCRF has played a crucial role in developing relief efforts aimed at the over one million children in Gaza\, who desperately need humanitarian aid after enduring 44 days under siege. If you cannot attend the screening but would like to donate to PCRF\, please visit their website.
