“We Are Them: The Words of Rachel Corrie” to air on KBTC »

We Are Them: The Words of Rachel CorrieKBTC, a PBS affiliate based in Tacoma, will be airing a program entitled “We Are Them: The Words of Rachel Corrie,” tomorrow night (Tuesday, July 24) at 7:30. Craig and Cindy Corrie, as well as friends and fellow activists of Rachel’s, were interviewed for the documentary. The 1/2 hour program is produced by “Full Focus,” described as Washington’s only weekly documentary series. Read the rest

Day in court: Caterpillar appeal »

Alice_John_Press_Conf_1.jpgMembers of Rachel Corrie’s family and friends took part in a vigil and informational flyering July 9 as the family as the oral arguments in the case against Caterpillar got under way the in the US Court of Appeals at the Park Place Building in downtown Seattle. The Center for Constitutional Rights (representing the Corrie family and four Palestinian families in the case) held a press conference at noon. Read the rest

The Olympia-Rafah Mural Project »

Artist and activist Susan Greene, who has led many mural projects in the Occupied Territories and elsewhere, will be working with a group in Olympia to plan and paint a mural in downtown Olympia, commemorating the special relationship between our town and Rafah in the Gaza Strip. All are invited to brainstorm ideas for the mural, help put together a fund-raising plan, and scout for available wall space as we walk through downtown following the meeting!

  • Build community between Olympians & Palestinians
  • Lend your voice, ideas, & skills
  • Collaborate in the creation of a beautiful mural

Dr. El-Farra, a Palestinian physician, activist, and mother, founded the Rachel Corrie Children and Youth Cultural Center in 2003. She is the Director of Gaza Projects for the Middle East Children’s Alliance, serves as a health development consultant for the Union of Health Work Committees in Gaza, and is Vice President of the Palestinian Red Crescent Society. Dr. El-Farra is an internationally-recognized human rights leader who speaks regularly at conferences in Europe and is currently writing a book with Noam Chomsky. Read the rest
