A Luke Somers Retrospective: A Day in the Life of Yemen

April 29, 2017 @ 10:00 am - May 1, 2017 @ 5:00 pm

Free

You’re invited to join Jordan and Paula Somers, brother and mother of Luke Somers, as they celebrate, observe and reflect on Luke’s life, as well as honor and recognize the lives of the Yemeni people, as seen through Luke’s eyes from 2011 to 2013.

For three days, they will be exhibiting a collection of Luke’s work and experiences as a freelance photographic journalist and resident of Yemen. In doing so, they hope to pay homage to Luke as a human being – a brother, a son, a friend, a citizen of the world. In turn, you will be provided with a look into Yemeni culture – the vast beauty and plight of its people – as well as with an enhanced understanding of the Middle Eastern region as a whole.

The exhibition:

  • Opening day event on Saturday from 10:00 AM to NOON, which will include guest speakers and Yemeni refreshments.

  • The exhibition will be held from Saturday, April 29th through Monday, May 1st and will be open to the public (10:00 AM to 5:00 PM Saturday and Sunday, 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM Monday). Of course, you may come and go at any time.

The exhibit is located in the Casey Building on the 5th floor. Parking is available in the Broadway garage, and the 12th & Marion parking lot and on side streets.
